Stubzy enlightens us once more as to the best cheap eats in Sydney.
For the average student, eating out for fine food and drink can be quite the impost on the wallet. For any student, finding that special place that serves great food and doesn’t cost a bomb is one of those must dos. Here are my top 5 cheap eats around Sydney that are definitely a must try:
The Glenmore Hotel
All day Monday the Glenmore Hotel in Th e Rocks does a fantastic steak with chips and salad for $12.90. The Glenmore Hotel also has a fantastic rooftop bar that overlooks circular Quay, an amazing place to have a drink as well.
Ichiban Boshi
Located within The Galleries at 500 George street is some of the best ramen you will find in the city. At about $12 a dish it is certainly excellent value. Ichiban Boshi have a shop down in the food court and also a restaurant upstairs, I recommend if going up to the Restaurant for lunch to get there early as it does get very busy and there is often queues right down the stairs.
Pho Ha Noi
Pho Ha Noi has got to be one of the most inexpensive places in the city to grab a terrific Pho. Located in Hunter connection, 7-13 Hunter St, Sydney. Th e beef pho is a mere $7.50 and does hold its own against some of the better places in the city however this place is much more about the value. Pho Ha Noi really only opens for lunch and it does get very crowded.
Mary’s Burgers
No Sydney CBD cheap eats guide would be complete without a great burger place. Mary’s has got to be the best burgers in the city, located at 154 Castlereagh Street. Their American style burgers won’t disappoint at about $10 a burger they are worth every cent and I can guarantee you will be back. Be sure to order Th e Mary’s Burger; beef lettuce, tomato, onion and cheese. Th e patties use a mix of chuck, brisket, and rump from pasture-fed O’conner cattle raised in Victoria’s Gippsland region.
Din Tai Fung
Definitely some of the best dumplings in the city are found here at 644 George Street Sydney (world Square). Once described by renowned chef Ken Hom as the worlds tastiest dumplings. Th is is a place I recommend going with a group of 4 and it will cost you about $15 a head, I recommend the pork bun.
